FIRST PAPERBACK EDITION OF 50 COPIES. 6x9 BOOK OF 98, 60# PAGES. PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH SHIPPING.
Zach Zollo's first book of original writing, This Ain't No Wine Country is a poetry collection divided into three parts. While it would be easy to suggest a central, driving theme behind the book, the works within vary rather dramatically in length, style and tone.
Written on the island of Martha's Vineyard during the summer of 2022 - with whatever free time was allotted under a heavy work schedule - the poems collect the various moods, thoughts and emotions of the author at various points.
Despite its sprawl of range, many of the poems find themselves concerned with the theme of dominion. Or, more directly: the power that forces greater than ourselves hold over us...whether negative (addiction, religion, sorrow) or positive (breakfast foods, the beach, confidence).
Part I, entitled "the big K," is an experimental work themed around the contemporary opioid and prescription abuse crisis faced by youth in New England.
Part II collects twenty-seven short form poems, each varying in style and structure. Among the most common poems found are haiku, ballad, word collage and (oh so vaguely) pastoral.
Part III, entitled "Covenant," has also been recorded as a spoken word/ambient track with musical accompaniment by Them Beats.
